![]() With various artist albums, I just use the album name as the Album Artist I do the album artist by the group artist, like Berlin Philharmonic.įeatured artists, regardless of prominence, duet, etc, are in the artist field. Identifying classical music with the composer (I preceed it with era id). ![]() Much of what you said is the same or similar to my current thinkingĪlthough, I like the idea of having composer in the path. That's the kind of reply I'm looking for. That's the important thing-use something that makes sense to you and looks good to you. My objective is to keep the directory structure as simple and lean as possible. I also almost never use the conductor as an artist or album artist. I know that there are others who like to use the composer as album artist for directory construction purposes, but I always keep the composer only in the composer field. Example: "Various Artists - Mercury Living Presence V1". When I want to keep a large box set together in one directory, I use that box set title in the album artist name. In order to keep from having a humongous list of albums under Various Artists, I add the publisher, so I have "Various Artists - DG", "Various Artists - Decca", etc. For example, an album of two piano concertos by different composers and different orchestras, conductors or soloists is hard to assign a specific album artist to. I also make a lot of use of variations on "Various Artists" when one can't assign a single album artist. ![]() Returning to Itzhak Perlman, all of his albums done with another soloist have him as album artist. For an album with two soloists doing duets, I will designate one of the soloists as album artist. If it's the Berlin Philharmonic with a soloist who I am less interested in, the BPO will be the album artist. So if it's a violin concerto with Itzhak Perlman as the soloist, he will be the album artist. If there is an orchestra or ensemble with a soloist, I tend to use the orchestra as the album artist unless the soloist is someone quite famous. I assign all of my albums a single album artist. I go simply with music\album artist\album. I don't get too picky about how my files are organized in Explorer other than that I want is simple with short directory names. 8/Windows/, extract it and run qoobar.exe, the settings are stored inside program folder in assume that you are referring to file paths.
